REMEMBRANCE SERVICE 2024
'Remembrance Day' marks the day World War I ended: 11:00am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. All staff and pupils of Afon Tâf High School attended a poignant 'Remembrance Service' gathering at the front of school prior to 11:00am on
Friday 8 November 2024.
‘Remembrance Day’ is now generally recognised as a point of reflection to remember all those who gave their lives as a result of combat in different conflicts around the world since 1918. In a pupil-led service, representatives of each Year Group laid wreaths and plaques at the foot of our 'poppy field' which was sprinkled with wooden-oak crosses, overlooked by a WWI soldier in silhouette.
Head Girl, Freya, Head-Boy, Max and other Prefects gave measured, poignant readings. The school choir provided tuneful renditions of ‘We'll Meet Again’ and ‘Pack Up Your Troubles' followed by ‘The Last Post', tunefully played on the cornet by Year 9 pupil, Jared, followed by a well-observed 'two-minute' silence respectfully met by each and every member of #TeamTaf.
Da iawn pawb! Well done to you all!
